Story - Nov 2019 -" MAGIC WAND "

Its been a long time, coming to blog after 2 years with the new story.

Like Sculptember Inctober and Movember ,in BOT vfx, month of 2019 november will be 'NanoStory month'.
Daily they gave one topic and we've to write a story on that. I also participated and wrote one story on The topic 'Magic Wand'. So usually the story will be like what if someone has magic wand and what they will do. But I wanted my story to be in different perspective with realistic characters. Hope you will like it.

MAGIC WAND - "Kolombu karandi (Ladle) & Wooden scale"

It was one happy Sunday evening, a father with his 6 year old son went to theatre to watch the movie "Harry Potter". It was his son's first Hollywood movie. He liked it so much when 'Harry potter used his magic wand to control villain'. Once the movie finished, on the way to home, he was thinking about the Magic Wand.
Then suddenly he had one different thought. He thought that "his Mom also has magic wands in the form of 'kolombu karandi'(Ladle)/'Dosa karandi'(Spatula) which She was using it often for controlling him while eating "eat or I'll beat" with dosa karandi in her hand". Also while doing homework "write or I'll take kolombu karandi (eludhuriya illa karandiya edukava)".
After they reached home he looked at the kolombu karandi and dosa karandi. And he started to think those as magic wands.
Then next day evening after school finishes, his mom picked him from school to home.After reached home, he looked for magic wands/karandi's and hidden it somewhere so that Mom didn't use those to make him afraid while eating and couldn't force him to do homework.
Later sometime Mom was searching her magic wands/karandi's everywhere in house but not able to found. He was so happy and enjoyed that evening without doing anything.
Next day he happily go to school but he forgot that he didn't finish his homework and also one more magic wand is there with his class teacher in the form of 30 cm wooden ruler scale.Once teacher asked homework of all the students, he got afraid and got beaten up for not doing his homework.
After school,he asked his Mom where is father and when he will come.Once he reached home, he moved fast towards his father and grabbed his office bag. Then took out magic wands/karandi's and gave to his Mom and told that " use this Magic Wands over me Mom, for eating and writing homework".

These 2 magic wands made most of our lives better.

V-Ray - Getting Interior Light Through Sunlight Rays

I started this project mainly for studying the V-Ray Materials, Shading and Lighting based on ref. photo. But the ref. photo looked like old,dull and saturated one. So I decided to giving the room a fresh and new look by adding few objects and changing colors and textures. But stayed with a bit of green tone as well as morning warm light.

Since my focus is mainly on shading and lighting, I reduced the time on modeling by using the trees and few objects model from Evermotion, cgaxis and HQ plants. Though the textures were used from real life, I tweaked more to getting the color and look of the room.

The post process was done in photoshop by using z-depth and env-fog passes. And also went through color correction by adjusting contrast and hue values.The reference photo is down below.
